Seasonal Stress? Breathe Easy…

Still feeling the effects of the stress of the season? Don’t despair! Our spa team has put together a list of 5 tips to help you breathe easier through the frenzy that is the holiday season…

Essential oils: Don’t underestimate the power of scent! Aromas like lavender and chamomile have been known to help with anxiety, while lemon and peppermint can help you feel energized. Try using them topically, diffusing them or putting them in your bath. Be sure to read the directions or consult a professional to be sure you are using them correctly.

Massage: During the stressful season, sore and tense muscles are often a side effect! Not only can a massage work out those knots, but some studies have shown that it can decrease anxiety, improve sleep and boost immunity – a great benefit during cold and flu season.

Fresh air: Enjoy the great outdoors for a change of scenery, a mental break and boost your energy. Natural light, a dose vitamin D and exercise might just be the distraction you need to recharge!

Focus on fun: In a season so busy and filled with responsibilities, take a moment to schedule in some fun time for yourself. Visit the spa, go on a hike, enjoy a movie, or jump on a trampoline. Re-focusing might just be the motivation you need, to make progress on your to-do list or break the frenzy.

Plan, plan, plan: From a practical standpoint, the more time you have, the less stressed you should be. Now that the shopping season has ended, start the new year on an organised note!  Start list-making and planning as early as possible so you’re not rushing around at the last minute. Get ahead of the game this year…
